Hello, PNW Key Clubbers!

It’s officially a spooky season! Whether or not you celebrate Halloween, October brings a myriad of ideas and resources for Key Clubbers across the globe. This month, Key Club International is providing members with different service and educational opportunities to continue engaging members nearing the end of membership recruitment season.

Trick or Treat for UNICEF for Start Strong: Zambia is running throughout the entire month of October! If your club members want an excuse to rekindle their childhood and trick-or-treat once again for Halloween, this is a great opportunity to partake. For this fun and spirited annual service project, all you need to do is have club members go door-to-door and tell their neighbors a little about the cause while asking for cash donations. They may even get some candy while on the job! Listen to a message from Olympian and UNICEF Ambassador Laurie Hernandez to learn more about the project here. Have further inquiries? Contact our PNW International Trustee, Alyssa Kline, by emailing alyssa.kline@keyclub.org

If you’re looking for more ways to get involved in your community at the beginning of this school year, consider planning a joint service project with your sponsoring Kiwanis Club. Doing so will not only help strengthen relationships with Kiwanis but will also allow you to make a difference in your community. If you have any questions, need help connecting with other Kiwanis-family organizations in your area, or would like to share your joint-service project ideas, feel free to reach out to Kiwanis Family Relations Chair Kaitlin Medina at kfam@pnwkeyclub.org.

In addition to engaging in service projects, one of the keys to club success throughout the service year is ensuring your club members submit their membership dues as soon as possible. The sooner in the year the deadline is set within your club for potential members to pay their dues, the more likely your club is to submit its dues in a timely manner (December 1st) – and better yet – submit its dues by the early-bird deadline (November 1st). By submitting your club’s payment by the early-bird deadline for just 11 members through the Membership Update Center (MUC), your club will win an early-bird patch and preferred seating at DCON 2024. Additionally, clubs that submit dues by the early-bird deadline will also be entered into a Key Club International draw to win a free hotel room at the Atlanta Hilton for the 2024 Key Club International Convention! The prize is valued at over US$875. This is an opportunity you don’t want to miss!

If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas, please never hesitate to reach out to me at governor@pnwkeyclub.org or through Instagram @nolastenstrom. Let’s be the district with the highest number of early-bird dues-paid clubs this year!

The Membership Growth and Reactivation Committee has been working hard all summer to provide you with a few new resources to help grow your club membership throughout this service year! This campaign includes two new resources: How To: Land a Non-Kiwanis Sponsor and How To: Grow Member Engagement. The committee is also working on a new “Why Key Club?” video that will be released later this Fall! Don’t forget about the recently updated 8th Grade Recruitment Kit and the many other great resources and tips and tricks inside the MGRC Toolkit. All of these resources can be found in the MGRC Linktree linked below. This is the time to focus on growing your membership or chartering new Key Clubs, Builders Clubs, or K-Kids in your area, so please utilize all the resources provided.

We are pleased to report that nearly all divisions have Lieutenant Governors now, some for the first time in many years. This is all thanks to the help of the advisors and Key Clubbers who nominated eligible students. However, we still need your help! Lieutenant Governors are vital to the health of each Key Club division and serve as the critical connection between the club and district levels. Clubs in divisions that have no Lieutenant Governors lack a consistent source of relevant updates, resources, and leadership.

The following divisions have Lieutenant Governor vacancies.

  • Division 9
  • Division 46
  • Division 52
  • Division 76
  • Division 78

If you or anyone you know is from one of these divisions and is interested in serving as a Lieutenant Governor during the 2023-2024 year, please contact me at governor@pnwkeyclub.org or District Administrator Brian Egger at administrator@pnwkeyclub.org for more information. I can assure you that serving on the District Board is an incredible experience and will help you develop your leadership skills.
