Biweekly Update #13

Greetings, Pacific Northwest Key Clubbers!

Spooky season is here, and with it all the wonderful experiences of fall—the pumpkin spice lattes, golden leaves, and brisk breezes.

The fall also provides many opportunities within Key Club, including the beloved tradition of Trick-or-Treat for UNICEFKey Club Week, the exciting Call to Convention Webinar, and more. This is the perfect time to invest in the district and make a meaningful impact in your community! With half of the service year already behind us, it is also time for you to cement your legacy of leadership. What else do you want to accomplish by the end of the 2025-2026 service year? How will you achieve it? I have full faith that, with deliberate thought, planning, and determination, you can accomplish even your loftiest goals.

Remember that I am here to support you whenever you need assistance! Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. I am always happy to help during a Zoom call or via email!

Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF

Costumes, candy, haunted houses—Halloween is always fun! But this year, it can mean even more. It’s the 75th anniversary of Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, and Key Club members like you have the chance to continue the tradition of turning Halloween into a force for good. Instead of just collecting candy, you can help raise money to support Start Strong: Zambia, our signature project with UNICEF, which is changing lives by supporting early childhood development.

Your efforts will help build insakas, sustainable community hubs in Zambia where young children and their families can access education, nutrition, and a safe space to grow. Each insaka includes classrooms, a community kitchen, a vegetable garden, sanitation facilities and a playground—everything a child needs to start strong.

Since 2022, Key Club members have raised over US $250,000, which is enough to fund seven insakas. Just imagine the impact we can generate together with your help!

Below are several resources that will empower you to contribute to our mission!

The 2025 Membership Campaign Continues

The Membership Growth and Reactivation Committee (MGRC) has worked diligently to establish goals for each individual club in the Pacific Northwest. The committee evaluated past membership trends, club histories, and school information to create challenging—but attainable—membership goals. If each club achieves its goal, the Pacific Northwest’s membership will reach a mighty 13,400 Key Clubbers.

Let’s work together to elevate PNW Key Club to new heights!

Early Bird Dues and Incentives

Early Bird dues must be received by Kiwanis International beforeNovember 1, 2025! Please submit your dues soon to ensure your club achieves Early Bird status. Remember, it is not necessary to submit dues for all club members in order to achieve Early Bird Status. You must only submit dues for at least 12 Key Club members to receive Early Bird Status.

Clubs that pay dues by the November 1 deadline will receive a special banner patch from Key Club International. Additionally, divisions with higher percentages of Early Bird clubs will earn priority DCON seating!

PNWOF Update

The PNWOF Application is OPEN NOW! The Pacific Northwest Opportunities Fund (PNWOF) is a grant provided by the district to support clubs in funding service projects or fundraisers. The grant amount can range from $100 to $1,000 and covers up to two-thirds of the anticipated project costs. The grant is open from September 1st to October 31st, 2025. Begin planning your service projects and thinking about your application now! If you have any questions about the PNWOF application or grant, please contact PNWOF Committee Chair Claire Jong at pnwof@pnwkeyclub.org.

K-Fam Updates: Visits and Kiwanis One Day

This school year, I challenge each of you to foster a stronger relationship between your Key Club and sponsoring Kiwanis Club. Your sponsoring Kiwanis Club provides a strong foundation for your Key Club’s success. If you are struggling to identify your sponsoring Kiwanis Club, its meeting time and location, or its club officers, please contact your Lieutenant Governor or utilize the 2024-2025 Kiwanis Family Directory.

To increase Kiwanis-Family collaboration, all Key Clubs are encouraged to participate in Kiwanis One Day, which will occur on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. During this day of unity, the branches of the Kiwanis-Family will work together to better their communities—and to invite friends and family to join them in a joint-service project. Through collaboration, we can amplify our impact!

Youth Opportunities Fund Update (APPLY NOW!)

Around the world, Key Clubs are making waves with support from the Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF). Hundreds of Key Clubs have received grants from the YOF, allowing them to take their service projects to new heights. Applications for 2025-2026 grants are due October 15, 2025, with a second round due March 1, 2026. Need ideas for projects? Read about the past recipients for inspiration.
