Greetings, Pacific Northwest!
I hope you are enjoying the last couple weeks—or days—of summer. It feels like the warm weather and spare time have quickly escaped us. Now, we must prepare for an eventful and impactful school year. While I will be sad to see summer go, I must admit that I am immensely excited for the upcoming school year!
As the fall approaches, I encourage you to take some time to plan your year. Identify service projects in which you would like to participate. Leverage your passion for specific causes to guide you as you identify these projects. For example, I am passionate about alleviating the suffering of those struggling with houselessness. Allowing this passion to guide me, I have identified a regular service project with a local organization. Service projects such as these can also provide a consistent schedule for yourself and your club.
The end of the summer season is also prime time for recruitment! Invite friends, acquaintances, and even completely new people to your upcoming Key Club meetings. For underclassmen, Key Club can be an inclusive community of role models. For upperclassmen who are new to Key Club, our organization can offer vast opportunities for growth, professional development, leadership, and service. By inviting others to Key Club, we can share the special experiences associated with our organization.
For club officers, this time period can be even more pivotal. Beyond encouraging members to “bring a buddy” to club meetings, officers should utilize the Pacific Northwest Membership Growth and Reactivation Committee’s resources. The MGRC Linktree provides easy access to helpful materials that can help strengthen and grow your club. If you are unsure of how to begin your own recruitment campaign, begin by exploring these MGRC resources!
As we begin thinking about membership campaigns, it is impossible to avoid thinking about DUES! This year, Kiwanis Engage will be replacing the MUC as the dues and reporting database. I urge club secretaries and advisors to explore this new database and the various training resources available, which will ensure a smooth dues collection process. More information about dues is included below!
As always, never hesitate to contact me at governor@pnwkeyclub.org with any questions, concerns, or feedback. I look forward to the school year, especially because I know that we have an exciting year ahead!
In Care and Service,
Gavin Ahumada

Key Club Day North Reminder
While Key Club Day South registration has officially closed, you can still register for Key Club Day North! Key Club Days are designed to be fun, motivational, and educational, focused on enhancing the membership experience year-round, not just at the District Convention. Tickets will be available through the PNW Key Club Shop. Don’t wait to register! Key Club Day North registration closes on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 11:59 PM PDT.
Key Club Day North will take place from noon to 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 6 at Wild Waves. On-site divisions for Key Club Day North include 19, 20m, 21, 22/24, 26, 27, 28, 30, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, and 38.
If your division is not listed above as an on-site division, your Lieutenant Governor will host an off-site event during late-August or early-September. This event will provide a similar experience for Key Club members who might be too distant to attend on-site Key Club Days.
To energize these events, a FREE virtual Key Club Days kick-off event will be available to you and your division on August 20, 2025 at 7:00 PM! These virtual celebrations will provide an opportunity to attend high-quality workshops at no cost, making them a perfect opportunity to kick off Key Club Days 2025!
As a final Key Club Days reminder, you do not have to attend the in-person program in order to access the Key Club Days Virtual Kickoff. ALL ARE INVITED! We hope to see Key Clubbers, advisors, and Kiwanians at the virtual event on August 20!
District Project Webinar: August 28, 2025
Want to learn more about Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC)? For the 2025-2026 PNW Key Club District Project, we are partnering with RMHC to help “keep families close” while their loved ones receive specialized medical treatment. On Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 6:00 – 7:00 PM, the District Project Committee will host a webinar with speakers from four PNW Ronald McDonald Houses. Help us support RMHC’s heartwarming mission. We hope to see you there!
Leadership Corner: Back-to-School Resources
As we start the 2025-2026 service year, the Key Club International Board is excited to welcome returning and incoming Key Club members. In the coming weeks, prepare to recruit new club members, coordinate service projects, and schedule meetings.
We have gathered a list of resources to help keep your club strong and sustainable for the new service year. All of these resources and more can be found on the Key Club International website, located underneath the “Resources” tab. You can even navigate to the “Seasonal Resources” section to find materials designed specifically for the fall.
Membership Services Update: Kiwanis Engage
As fall approaches, so does dues season. Club secretaries and advisors must be prepared to utilize Kiwanis Engage, the new dues and reporting system, which opens on Thursday, September 6, 2025. Below are some procedures that can help you become more familiar with this new interface or obtain support if needed:
- Explore the various training resources provided by Kiwanis International
- Utilize the Kiwanis Engage Support Form, which will provide a response within 24-48 hours. Please utilize this form before moving on to the next step.
- Contact District Administrator Brian Egger (administrator@pnwkeyclub.org)
Remember that dues are now $15.50 per member. The Early Bird Deadline for paying dues is November 1, 2025, meaning payment must be processed by Kiwanis International on or before this date. In the Pacific Northwest, clubs that pay Early Bird dues receive a banner patch, DCON ribbon, and priority DCON seating during the Opening Session.
If your club is not able to pay dues by the Early Bird deadline, the regular dues deadline is December 1, 2025. I encourage the use of school charge cards—not checks—to ensure the dues payment process is more efficient. Throughout the dues collection process, please do not hesitate to contact District Treasurer Andrea Gonzalez (treasurer@pnwkeyclub.org). Best of luck!
Erika’s Lighthouse: Give Voice
Start your school year off right with positive mental health. During Suicide Prevention Week September 8-12, Erika’s Lighthouse will promote daily activities as part of its GIVE VOICE campaign. Key Clubs can take part by advancing inclusive school cultures around mental health. Focus on prioritizing mental health education and awareness.
PNWOF Webinar
The PNWOF is a district-wide grant program that can cover up to ⅔ of the costs associated with your dream service project. PNWOF provides grant amounts ranging from $100-$1000, which can be used for club service projects that benefit the 2025-2026 District project, Ronald McDonald House Charities, or the applicant’s community at large. The PNWOF application will open on Monday, September 1 and will close on Friday, October 31, at 11:59 PM.
If you want to learn more about PNWOF, you are invited to join our annual PNWOF webinar on Wednesday, September 17, at 7:00 PM. Register with the link below!
District Leadership Vacancies
We are pleased to report that nearly all divisions are served by Lieutenant Governors. However, we still need your help! Lieutenant Governors are vital to the health of each Key Club division, as they create a critical connection between the club and district levels. Clubs in divisions that are not served by a Lieutenant Governor lack a consistent source of relevant updates, resources, and leadership.
The following divisions are not currently served by a Lieutenant Governor.
- Division 9
- Division 22/24
- Division 52
- Division 74
- Division 76
If you or anyone you know is from one of these divisions and is interested in serving as a Lieutenant Governor during the 2025-2026 service year, please contact me at governor@pnwkeyclub.org or District Administrator Brian Egger at administrator@pnwkeyclub.org. Serving on the District Board is an incredible experience that provides opportunities to create change and develop as a leader.
