A volunteering event that I really enjoyed was the Victoria GoodLife Marathon. We as a club, as well as other volunteers from the community handed out drinks at a water station on Beach Drive as racers ran by. We also cheered them on as well. We all had a good time with lots of laughs. It was especially fun when the racers would accidentally knock cups out of people’s hands on their first attempts at grabbing some water; this resulted in water practically exploding out of the cups from the runners’ sheer velocity. It was a memorable experience helping runners to achieve their goals and meeting new people.
