Biweekly Update #22

Hello, Pacific Northwest!

I am excited to report that 1,600 Key Clubbers and advisors will be joining us in Portland, Oregon, for the 76th Annual District Convention! There, we will celebrate the past year of service and recognize numerous Key Clubs and members with well-deserved awards. If you will not be joining us this year, do not worry! Now can be an opportunity to plan for your attendance at DCON 2027 in Seattle, Washington, when PNW Key Club will return to the Hyatt Regency. Resources like the PNW D-FIT are an excellent starting point for your fundraising efforts.

Beyond DCON, I hope you can begin reflecting on the past year of service. Think about successes and areas of improvement. It may be easy to focus on the large goals that were not ultimately achieved, but take pride in your many accomplishments, no matter how small. Every hour of service, every new member, every person impacted generates a significant difference.

I hope you enjoy the remaining winter weather! Spring will be here before we know it! As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions, concerns, or feedback.

In Care and Service,
Gavin Ahumada

Membership Update from your MGRC Chair

Hello, PNW Key Clubbers! Thank you to each officer and member who worked hard to achieve—and even exceed—their goals. PNW Key Club would not be as strong a district without your efforts.

Although the February 1st dues deadline has passed, you and your incoming club officers can still help the district achieve our membership goals by April 1st! Ensure that you work to identify membership issues that your club is facing, and utilize the MGRC Toolkit, which contains a wealth of helpful information. Also, emphasize recruiting underclassmen. Recruiting younger club members helps keep membership strong. If you are a current underclassman, thank you! Your dedication to service is greatly appreciated, and it is doubtlessly creating a difference in your community. If you are an upperclassman, we thank you, too, for your service to your home, school, and community!

Youth Opportunities Fund Office Hours

Around the world, Key Clubs are making waves with support from the Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF). Hundreds of Key Clubs have received grants from the YOF, allowing them to take their service projects to new heights. Applications for Round #2 of the 2025-2026 grants are due March 1, 2026. Need ideas for projects? Read about the past recipients for inspiration.

As a reminder, Key Clubbers can attend the final Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF) Office Hours Session to ask questions, gain feedback, and receive any other support with the application process. The office hours session will take place at 4 PM PT on Sunday, February 22.

Key Club International Partners: Thirst Project and The Nature Conservancy

Key Club International is excited to share updates from two of its partners, Thirst Project and The Nature Conservancy!

Thirst Project Update
Key Club Walks are back! Last year, Key Club International and Thirst Project teamed up to fund an entire clean water project for a high school in Eswatini. Our mission this year is to fund two more water projects! The district that raises the most money through Key Club Walks will win exclusive Thirst Project pins at the 2026 Key Club International Convention.

The Nature Conservancy
The Nature Conservancy is the world’s largest conservation organization. KCI is partnering with TNC to tackle two of the planet’s biggest challenges: climate change and biodiversity loss. This exciting partnership will open doors for you to create real environmental impact through service, advocacy, and hands-on action.

Global Leadership Certificate

Do you want to learn how to make a real impact—the kind that changes lives and improves the world? Through the Global Leadership Certificate Program, you’ll learn how to share your voice and serve your community’s needs. With 40 different courses offered based on Key Club’s core values of fellowship, leadership, and service, this program is guaranteed to help you stand out as a candidate for post-secondary education and employment. More importantly, this program will help you become a stronger leader and a dynamic changemaker.
