Biweekly Update #16

Greetings, PNW Key Club!

I hope you are enjoying your fall! I know that many of us are working through our college applications while balancing extracurriculars, school, and several other commitments, so I applaud you for persevering and accomplishing so much. In the chaos of the season, however, take a moment to acknowledge your achievements, and remember to take time to do something you enjoy.

As we continue moving through the fall, there are plenty of updates to share from PNW Key Club! I am excited to report that, as of November 14, 2025, PNW Key Club boasts 4,371 dues-paid members in 104 active clubs, an 11% increase from this time last year. Keep up the strong momentum! If your club has not yet paid dues, please do so by December 1, 2025. Dues payments completed after this date will be considered late.

With only four months remaining in the 2025-2026 service year, I encourage you to reevaluate your goals and determine what you can realistically accomplish between now and March 2026. While it may become easy to settle for the status quo, I urge you to continue striving for excellence!

As we near the end of the year, you may also be considering higher office. Positions such as Lieutenant Governor, District Executive, and Key Club International Officer provide valuable opportunities for members to grow and develop leadership skills. If you or someone you know is interested in running for a higher office, consider attending the “Running for Higher Office” Webinar on December 17. More information is available in this Biweekly Update and on the DCON website. Your Lieutenant Governor will also be sharing more information soon!

In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or feedback. I wish you all a happy Thanksgiving!

In Care and Service,
Gavin Ahumada

2025 Membership Campaign INCENTIVES

To achieve a district membership goal of 13,400 Key Clubbers, the PNW Membership Growth and Reactivation Committee (MGRC) is working hard to support clubs through individual appointments and the promotion of resources. The MGRC has also identified unique and exciting incentives for clubs that achieve and exceed their club membership goals! These incentives include the following:

Special Pins and Ribbons

  • Incentive: Members attending DCON from clubs that achieved their published membership goal for the 2025-2026 year will receive special membership pins and ribbons at DCON 2026. These pins and ribbons will only be available to members of clubs that achieved their 2025-2026 membership goal and who are registered to attend DCON 2026.

Governor’s Reception Invitation

  • Incentive: Clubs that achieve a membership count 25% or more above their published goal for the 2025-2026 year will be invited to a special reception with the District Board at DCON 2026. There will be food available for attendees, and the District Board and Executive Committee will be present during the event.

These incentives will serve as a demonstration of appreciation for the immense efforts invested by officers as we all collectively strive to achieve our membership goals this year. Please reach out if you need support in achieving your club membership goals!

Membership Tips from the MGRC

The membership campaign is in full swing, and the PNW Key Club Membership Growth and Reactivation Committee is committed to helping you achieve your membership goals. See below for several innovative tips for increasing your club membership!

  1. Start an email list of individuals who have attended your meeting. You can simply collect emails of students who have attended your meeting on paper or in spreadsheets where students write their names and emails.
  2. Promote, promote, promote! POST on Instagram to maximize outreach. Create fun posts and reels! Involve your members in membership growth. Utilize your morning announcements, school newsletters, make posters and hang them up around the school, and use any TVs or projectors around the school to promote Key Club. Also, be sure to highlight your club events, divisional events, and fun district events like DCON!
  3. Collaborate with other clubs to drive student engagement. Club collaboration can attract new members from different clubs, which increases your club’s appeal, attracting more members and dedicated servant leaders.
  4. Constantly remind your members to pay their dues at every meeting, and utilize your Instagram page.
  5. When promoting Key Club, it is crucial that club leaders understand the demographic that the club serves. For example, officers should not raise the price of your dues if members already struggle to pay the required $15.50 for district and international dues. It is better to recruit more members than to raise a small quantity of additional funds. With a greater understanding of your club’s demographic, you can also produce more targeted, individualized promotion. Because Key Club targets service-minded individuals, direct your promotional efforts towards these individuals. Be aware of your school demographic and develop promotional ideas that will attract students at your high school.
  6. Remember that anyone can join Key Club at any time! While the school year is well underway, Key Club is always looking for members to attend meetings, service projects, and serve the community. You can always add members and generate a new invoice throughout the year!
  7. Finally, retaining members is equally as important as recruiting new members. Work to maintain meeting engagement so members continue returning. Include fun social events, icebreaker activities, food and potlucks, invite guest speakers, and conduct miniature service projects at meetings. Overall, determine how you can ensure meetings are valuable.

Don’t limit yourself. These tips are not the only strategies to increase your membership; some may be effective, but it is truly about knowing WHO YOU SERVE. The MGRC has created a plethora of resources available on the MGRC Linktree and using the links below. Happy member recruitment!

Apply to Lead a Workshop at DCON 2026 (DEADLINE APPROACHING)!

You can still apply to lead a workshop at DCON 2026! Workshop leaders will enjoy an opportunity to share their experiences, knowledge, and talents with fellow servant leaders. Additionally, if your Key Club excels in a particular area, such as Kiwanis-Family relations, membership growth and retention, or service project brainstorming and execution, I encourage you to apply!

As always, don’t hesitate to contact DCON Committee Chair, Lilac Vicencio at convention@pnwkeyclub.org if you have any questions.

Applications must be submitted by Sunday, November 30th, at 11:59 PM.

Running for Higher Office Webinar: December 17, 7:30 PM

Are you interested in serving as a Lieutenant Governor, District Executive, or Key Club International Officer? YOU are invited to the Running for Higher Office Webinar on Wednesday, December 17, at 7:30 PM. This virtual event will be an excellent opportunity for you to learn more about higher leadership positions within Key Club. I hope to see you there!

Please note that candidates for the office of 2026-2027 Lieutenant Governor are required to attend this webinar with a parent or guardian, or they must contact District Administrator Brian Egger at administrator@pnwkeyclub.org in order to be eligible for the election. The Lieutenant Governor Candidate Packet is attached below. Reach out with any questions!

Time to Plan Club Officer Elections!

Clubs are asked to please host their club officer elections in late January or early February. This allows newly-elected officers to attend DCON officer training, provides an opportunity for new officers to seek the mentorship of their predecessor as the school year continues, and it ensures that experienced Lieutenant Governors can assist your club during the transition. This month, please identify a date, time, and format for your club officer elections. Also, develop a plan for promoting elections and encouraging qualified members of your club to seek leadership positions.

The service year will conclude before we know it!
